Ingredients
– 400g firm tofu
– 2 tablespoons soy sauce
– 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
– 1 tablespoon sesame oil
– 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
– 2 tablespoons cornflour
– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
– 3 spring onions, chopped
– 1 red bell pepper, sliced
– 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Method
1. Begin by pressing the tofu to remove excess water. Wrap it in a clean towel and place something heavy on top for about 15 minutes.
2. Cut the pressed tofu into bite-sized cubes. Mix soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and five-spice powder in a bowl.
3. Toss tofu pieces in the mixture and let them marinate for 10 minutes. After marinating, sprinkle the cornflour over the tofu and toss gently.
4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the tofu cubes and cook until golden on all sides, about 10 minutes.
5. Add spring onions and red bell pepper to the pan. Stir and cook for another 5 minutes. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top before serving.
