Urad Dal Flavored Rice Recipe: Delicious Ulundogorai Prashad

Ingredients

– 1 cup urad dal (black gram)
– 2 cups rice
– 1 medium onion, chopped
– 2 green chilies, slit
– 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
– 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 2 tablespoons oil
– Salt to taste
– A handful of fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Method

1. First, rinse the urad dal in water and soak it for at least 30 minutes.
2. Drain the soaked dal and set it aside. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
3. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Wait for them to splutter, then add onions and green chilies. SautƩ until the onions turn golden.
4. Mix in ginger-garlic paste and the soaked urad dal. Cook for a few minutes, stirring frequently.
5. Add the rice and 4 cups of water. Season with salt. Stir well, cover, and let it simmer until the rice is cooked.
