Delicious Ulundogorai: Spicy Urad Dal Flavored Rice Recipe

Ingredients

– 1 cup urad dal (black gram)
– 2 cups rice
– 2 tablespoons ghee or oil
– 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 2 green chilies, chopped
– 1 medium onion, finely chopped
– 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
– 3 cups water
– Salt to taste

Method

1. Begin by rinsing the urad dal and rice separately under cold water. Soak the urad dal in water for about 30 minutes before cooking.
2. Heat the ghee or oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Wait for them to splutter.
3. Add the chopped green chilies and onion to the pot. SautƩ until the onion becomes translucent. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for another minute.
4. Drain the urad dal and add it to the pot. Next, add the soaked rice along with water and salt. Mix everything well.
5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice and dal are tender.
