Delicious Goan Recheado Bangdo: Stuffed Mackerel Recipe

Ingredients

– 4 mackerel fish
– 2 cups fresh coconut, grated
– 1 cup onions, chopped
– 4 garlic cloves, minced
– 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
– 2-3 green chilies, chopped
– 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
– 2 teaspoons red chili powder
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– Salt, to taste

Method

1. Clean the mackerel fish under running water and pat them dry with paper towels.
2. Heat a pan and lightly toast the grated coconut for about 3 minutes until fragrant.
3. Add onions, garlic, ginger, green chilies, tamarind paste, red chili powder, turmeric, and salt to the coconut. Mix everything together until well combined.
4. Stuff each mackerel with the coconut mixture, ensuring they are filled. Secure with toothpicks if needed.
5. Grill or pan-fry the stuffed fish over medium heat for about 5-6 minutes on each side until cooked through.
