Delicious Cabbage Thoran Recipe: Easy Kerala Poriyal Dish

Ingredients

– 1 small head of cabbage, finely shredded
– 1 cup grated coconut
– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
– 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
– 1 teaspoon urad dal (split black gram)
– 1 onion, thinly sliced
– 2 green chilies, sliced
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– Salt, to taste
– Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (optional)

Method

1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat.
2. Add mustard seeds and urad dal, frying until the seeds pop and the dal turns golden brown.
3. Stir in the sliced onion and green chilies, cooking until the onion becomes translucent.
4. Mix in the shredded cabbage, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Finally, add the grated coconut and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves if desired.
