Ingredients
– 1 tomahawk steak (about 1.5 kg)
– 1 tablespoon salt
– 1 tablespoon black pepper
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
– 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
– 200 ml beef broth
– 100 ml red wine
– 1 tablespoon butter
Method
1. Take the tomahawk steak out of the fridge. Let it sit for 30 minutes to reach room temperature.
2. Rub the steak with olive oil, then sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic, rosemary, and thyme. Make sure to cover all sides well.
3. Preheat the oven to 135°C. Place the steak on a baking tray and cook it in the oven for about 1.5 hours, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 54°C for medium-rare.
4. Heat a grill or a pan over high heat. Sear the steak for 2-3 minutes on each side after removing it from the oven.
5. In a small pan, add beef broth and red wine. Simmer on low heat for 10 minutes. Stir in butter before serving it with the steak.
