Mysore Style Hunase Saaru: Spicy Tamarind Rasam Recipe

Ingredients
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
2-3 dried red chilies
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
2 teaspoons tamarind paste
1.5 liters water
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Method
Start by heating the oil in a pot over medium heat. Add mustard seeds, and once they start to crackle, stir in cumin seeds and dried red chilies.

Mix in the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes soft and translucent. Then, add the chopped tomato and cook until it is mushy.

Incorporate tamarind paste and 1.5 liters of water, then season with salt. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

Check the flavor and adjust seasoning if necessary. If you want it spicier, add more chilies.

Before serving, garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
