Apple Pie Recipe
Ingredients
950 g apples, peeled and sliced
200 g granulated sugar
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 packet pre-made pie crusts (2 crusts)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tbsp milk
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 220°C (425°F). Mix apple slices, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, flour, and salt in a large bowl. Stir well until all apple pieces are coated.
2. Roll out one pie crust into a 23 cm pie dish and press it down gently. Pour the apple mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
3. Place the second pie crust over the filling. Press the edges to seal them and cut a few slits in the top crust to let steam escape.
4. Mix the beaten egg with milk. Brush this mixture over the top crust for a nice glaze. This will help it to turn a golden color when baking.
5. Bake the pie for 45-50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown. Let it cool before slicing and serving.
