Master Fermentation Techniques: A Beginner’s Guide To Fermented Foods

Ingredients
250g of vegetables (like carrots, cucumbers, or cabbage)
1 tablespoon of salt
1 cup of water
1 tablespoon of vinegar (optional)
2 cloves of garlic (optional, for flavor)
1 tablespoon of spices (like dill or cumin, optional)
1 teaspoon of sugar (optional)
1 jar (1L) with a lid for fermenting
1 bowl for mixing
A clean cloth

Method
Chop the vegetables into small pieces or slices.
Mix the chopped vegetables with salt in a bowl and let them sit for about 10 minutes.
Add water and any optional ingredients like vinegar, garlic, or spices to the bowl.
Transfer the mixture into the clean jar, packing it down to release air.
Cover the jar with a cloth and place it in a warm spot for 3 to 7 days. Check daily for bubbles or a sour smell.
