Ingredients
– 2 cups all-purpose flour
– 2 tablespoons oil
– 1/2 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 cup water
– 1 cup split yellow peas
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 1 teaspoon coriander powder
– 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
– 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida
– Oil for frying
Method
1. Start by mixing the flour, salt, and oil in a bowl. Gradually add water while kneading until a soft dough forms. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
2. Cook the split yellow peas in boiling water until soft. Once done, drain and mash them well.
3. Heat some oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them sizzle. Then add the mashed peas, coriander powder, chili powder, and asafoetida. Stir and cook for a few minutes.
4. Take the dough and divide it into small balls. Flatten each ball and place a spoonful of the pea mixture in the center. Seal the edges to make a round shape.
5. Heat oil in a deep pan. Fry the stuffed kachoris in hot oil until golden brown. Drain them on paper towels to absorb extra oil.
