Ingredients

  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon asafoetida powder
  • Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)

Method

  1. First, mix gram flour, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and water in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Pour spoonfuls of the batter into the oil to make fritters, fry them until golden brown, then remove them onto a paper towel to drain.
  3. In another pot, combine yogurt with 1 cup of water. Stir in the remaining turmeric, cumin seeds, and asafoetida. Heat this mixture gently.
  4. Add the fried fritters into the yogurt mixture and let them simmer for about 10 minutes.
