Ingredients
– 1 cup sugar
– 1 cup plain flour
– ½ cup cocoa powder
– ½ cup vegetable oil
– 1 cup buttermilk
– 2 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– ½ teaspoon salt
– 1 cup boiling water
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Grease and flour two round cake pans.
2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until smooth.
4. Slowly pour in the boiling water while mixing. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay.
5. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
