Goan Recheado Bangdo: Delicious Stuffed Mackerel Recipe

Ingredients

– 4 medium mackerel, cleaned and scaled
– 1 cup grated coconut
– 1 onion, chopped
– 5-6 garlic cloves

– 1 tablespoon ginger, chopped
– 2-3 green chilies, chopped
– 1 tablespoon tamarind pulp
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Method

1. Start by making the stuffing. In a pan, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add onions, garlic, and ginger, and sauté them until they become soft.
2. Add grated coconut, green chilies, tamarind pulp, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir everything together and cook for about 5 minutes until the mixture is well combined.
3. Allow the stuffing to cool down slightly. Once cooled, fill each mackerel with the coconut mixture.
4. Heat the remaining oil in a pan over medium heat. Place the stuffed mackerel carefully in the pan and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
5. Enjoy your stuffed mackerel with rice or bread.
