Effortless Beef Stew Recipe: Delicious And Hands-Off Cooking

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef chuck, cut into 2.5 cm pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup canned diced tomatoes
  • 1 bay leaf

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 160°C.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe pot over medium heat. Brown the beef pieces in batches, then remove them from the pot.
  3. Add chopped onion, carrots, and celery to the same pot. Cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Stir in minced garlic and dried thyme, then return the beef to the pot. Pour in the beef broth and diced tomatoes. Add the bay leaf.
  5. Cover the pot and place it in the oven. Cook for 3 hours or until the beef is tender.
