Ingredients
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 cup warm water (about 40°C)
– 2 tablespoons sugar
– 2 teaspoons salt
– 1 packet dry yeast (7g)
– 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
– Optional: cornmeal for dusting
Method
1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
2. Add flour, salt, and vegetable oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
4. Place the dough in a greased bowl. Cover it with a damp cloth. Allow it to rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
5. Preheat the oven to 220°C. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased baking pan. Dust the top with cornmeal if using. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
