Ingredients
– 2 cups cornmeal
– 5 cups water
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1 tablespoon butter
– Optional: cooked vegetables or meat for serving
Method
1. Start by bringing 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot.
2. Mix the salt and cornmeal in a bowl, then gradually add the dry mixture to the boiling water while stirring.
3. Reduce the heat to low and stir continuously for about 10 minutes until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pot.
4. In a separate bowl, melt the butter. Gradually mix in the remaining 1 cup of water until well combined.
5. Pour the butter-water mixture into the cornmeal mixture and stir until everything is smooth. Serve warm with your choice of vegetables or meat on the side.
