Ingredients
- 4 green plantains
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Optional: garlic powder or lime juice for extra flavor
Method
1. Peel the plantains and cut them into about 2-inch thick slices.
2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large frying pan over medium heat.
3. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the plantain slices. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes on each side until they are golden yellow.
4. Remove the slices from the pan and place them on a paper towel to soak up excess oil. Let them cool for a moment.
5. Flatten each slice using a flat surface like a plate or the bottom of a pan. Fry the flattened plantains for another 1-2 minutes, then season with salt and optional garlic powder or lime juice.
