Ingredients
– 1 cup unsalted butter
– 1 cup brown sugar
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1/4 cup water
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 cup chocolate chips
– 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
– Parchment paper for baking
– Cooking spray
Method
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray it with cooking spray.
2. In a saucepan, mix butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, water, and salt over medium heat. Stir continuously until the butter melts.
3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then let it cook for about 10-12 minutes without stirring. Use a candy thermometer to check the temperature; it should reach 150°C (300°F).
4. Remove the saucepan from heat and carefully stir in the vanilla extract. Pour the toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet.
5. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Wait a few minutes for them to melt, then spread them evenly. Add chopped nuts if desired. Let the toffee cool completely before breaking into pieces.
