Delicious Sunday Gravy Recipe: A Flavorful Family Tradition

Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef chuck, cubed
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can (400 g) crushed tomatoes
  • 250 ml beef stock
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil, for serving (optional)

Method

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until soft.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Add the beef to the pot and brown on all sides.
  4. Pour in crushed tomatoes, beef stock, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir well and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve with fresh basil if desired.
