Ingredients
- 1 kg beef chuck, cubed
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (400 g) crushed tomatoes
- 250 ml beef stock
- 2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp sugar
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil, for serving (optional)
Method
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until soft.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the beef to the pot and brown on all sides.
- Pour in crushed tomatoes, beef stock, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Stir well and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat and cover. Simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Serve with fresh basil if desired.
