Delicious Sourdough Cinnamon Babka Recipe For Baking Enthusiasts

Ingredients

– 500 g bread flour
– 2 tsp instant yeast
– 1 tsp salt
– 100 g sugar
– 2 eggs
– 200 ml milk
– 50 g butter, melted
– 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
– 100 g chocolate, chopped
– 1 egg, for egg wash

Method

1. In a large bowl, combine bread flour, yeast, salt, and sugar. Mix these dry ingredients well.
2. Next, whisk together eggs, milk, and melted butter in a separate bowl. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until you form a dough.
3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes. The dough should become smooth and elastic. Place it in a greased bowl and cover with a cloth. Allow it to rise until doubled in size, roughly 1-2 hours.
4. Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. Spread the ground cinnamon and chopped chocolate evenly over the surface. Roll the dough up tightly from one long side.
5. Slice the roll in half lengthways, twist the two pieces together, and place in a greased loaf pan. Cover it again and let it rise for 30-45 minutes. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Brush the top with the beaten egg, then bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
