Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 100 g cold butter, cubed
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
Method
- Preheat the oven to 200°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
- Add the cold butter. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to combine until it looks like crumbs.
- Stir in the sourdough starter, vanilla extract, and the egg until just mixed. Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Scoop the dough onto the baking tray. Shape into scones and brush with milk. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden.
