Delicious Simple Moussaka Recipe: A Flavorful Greek Classic

Ingredients

– 2 medium eggplants
– 500 g ground beef
– 1 onion, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 400 g canned tomatoes
– 1 tsp dried oregano
– 1 tsp salt
– 1 cup milk
– 2 eggs
– 1 cup grated cheese

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice eggplants into thin rounds. Sprinkle salt on them and let them sit for about 30 minutes.
2. After 30 minutes, rinse the eggplant slices and pat them dry. Brown the ground beef in a large pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is soft.
3. Pour in the canned tomatoes and add oregano and salt. Simmer for about 15 minutes until thickened.
4. Layer the bottom of a baking dish with half of the eggplant. Spread half of the meat mixture over it. Repeat with the remaining eggplant and meat mixture.
5. Whisk together milk and eggs in a bowl. Pour this mixture over the top layer. Finish by sprinkling grated cheese on top. Bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
