Delicious Shahi Tukda Recipe: Traditional Indian Dessert Delight

Ingredients

– 4 slices of bread
– 1 cup of milk
– 1 cup of sugar
– 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
– 1/4 cup of ghee or butter
– 1/4 cup of water
– 4 tablespoons of khoya (or condensed milk)
– 1/4 cup of chopped nuts (like almonds and pistachios)
– 2 tablespoons of rose water
– A pinch of saffron (optional)

Method

1. Start by cutting the bread slices into quarters diagonally.
2. Heat ghee or butter in a pan and fry the bread pieces until they turn golden brown. Set aside on paper towels to drain excess oil.
3. In a separate pot, combine milk, water, sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron, if using. Bring this mixture to a gentle boil.
4. Add khoya or condensed milk to the milk mixture and cook until it thickens slightly. Stir in rose water.
5. Arrange the fried bread in a serving dish. Pour the thickened milk mixture over the bread and sprinkle chopped nuts on top.
