Ingredients
– 2 cups of warm water (about 500 ml)
– 2 tablespoons of sugar
– 1 tablespoon of active dry yeast
– 1 tablespoon of salt
– 1/4 cup of vegetable oil
– 6 to 7 cups of all-purpose flour
– 1 tablespoon of cornmeal (optional)
Method
1. Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes foamy.
2. Add salt and vegetable oil to the foamy mixture. Stir well to combine.
3. Gradually mix in flour, one cup at a time, until the dough starts to pull away from the sides of the bowl.
4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8 to 10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for an hour or until it doubles in size.
