Delicious Moong Dal Halwa Recipe: A Sweet Indian Dessert Delight

Ingredients

– 1 cup split yellow moong dal
– 1 cup sugar
– 3 cups water
– 4 tablespoons ghee
– 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
– 1/4 cup chopped nuts (almonds and cashews)
– 1/4 cup grated coconut (optional)
– A pinch of saffron strands (optional)
– 1/4 cup milk

Method

1. Begin by rinsing the moong dal thoroughly under cold water. Soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
2. Drain the soaked dal and blend it with a little water to make a smooth paste.
3. Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add the moong dal paste and cook, stirring constantly, until it turns golden brown.
4. Pour in 3 cups of water and add sugar. Stir well and keep cooking until the mixture thickens.
5. Mix in milk, cardamom powder, chopped nuts, and saffron. Continue to cook for a few more minutes until everything is well combined.
