Ingredients
– 1 cup moong dal (split yellow lentils)
– 1/4 cup ghee (clarified butter)
– 1 cup sugar
– 2 cups water
– 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
– 1/4 cup chopped nuts (like almonds or cashews)
– 1/4 cup raisins
– A pinch of salt
Method
1. Start by rinsing the moong dal under cold water until it is clean. Soak the lentils in enough water for about 30 minutes.
2. Drain the soaked dal and blend it into a coarse paste using a little water.
3. Heat ghee in a pan over medium heat. Add the lentil paste and stir continuously for about 10 minutes until it turns golden brown.
4. Pour in the water and add sugar, cardamom powder, and salt. Stir well until the sugar dissolves completely. Cook until the mixture thickens and starts to leave the sides of the pan, about 10 more minutes.
5. Add the nuts and raisins, mixing everything together. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat. Serve warm.
