Ingredients
– 1 cup masoor lentils
– 500 ml water
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 onion, finely chopped
– 2 garlic cloves, minced
– 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 1 tomato, chopped
– 1 teaspoon salt
Method
1. Rinse the masoor lentils in cold water until the water runs clear.
2. Heat olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until golden brown.
3. Stir in minced garlic, grated ginger, and cumin seeds. Cook for a couple of minutes until fragrant.
4. Add turmeric powder, chopped tomato, and rinsed lentils. Pour in 500 ml of water and salt.
5. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer for about 25 minutes until lentils are tender.
