Mangalorean Mavinakayi Menasinakai Curry Recipe
Ingredients
1 large raw mango, peeled and chopped
1 cup coconut, grated
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon jaggery, grated (or brown sugar)
2 tablespoons oil
Salt, to taste
1 cup water
2 green chilies, slit
Method
1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
2. Stir in the chopped mango pieces, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well and cook for about 2 minutes.
3. Add the grated coconut, jaggery, salt, and green chilies to the pan. Combine everything thoroughly.
4. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Let it simmer for around 10 minutes, or until the mango is tender.
5. Serve hot with rice or flatbreads.
