Delicious Karnataka-Style Chutney Pudi Recipe For Flavorful Dishes

Ingredients

– 1 cup urad dal (black gram split)
– 1/2 cup chana dal (split chickpeas)
– 1/4 cup grated coconut
– 4-5 dried red chilies, adjusted for heat
– 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
– 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
– Salt to taste
– 2 tablespoons oil
– 1 tablespoon jaggery (or brown sugar)
– 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method

1. Begin by dry roasting the urad dal and chana dal in a pan on medium heat until they turn golden brown.
2. Add dried red chilies and stir for another minute, allowing them to become fragrant.
3. Remove the pan from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
4. Once cool, blend the dal mixture with grated coconut, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, salt, jaggery, and lemon juice until smooth.
5. Heat oil in a pan, pour in the blended chutney, and sauté for a couple of minutes before serving.
