Ingredients
– 1 cup fresh mint leaves
– 2 cups heavy cream
– 1 cup whole milk
– 3/4 cup granulated sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 cup chopped chocolate or chocolate chips
– A few drops of green food coloring (optional)
Method
1. Start by placing the mint leaves in a pot with the cream and milk. Heat over medium heat until it starts to steam, but do not boil.
2. Once it is heated, remove the pot from the heat. Let the mint leaves steep for 30 minutes to infuse the mint flavor.
3. After steeping, strain the mixture to remove the mint leaves. Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, salt, and green food coloring if using.
4. Pour the mixture into a bowl and chill it in the fridge for about 2 hours or until very cold.
5. After chilling, mix the mixture in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Add the chopped chocolate or chocolate chips right before it finishes churning.
