Cherry Pie Filling Recipe
Ingredients
800 g pitted cherries (fresh or frozen)
150 g granulated sugar
60 ml water
30 g cornstarch
15 ml lemon juice
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Method
Combine the cherries, sugar, and water in a saucepan.
Stir the mixture over medium heat until it starts to bubble.
Mix the cornstarch with a little cold water until smooth, then stir it into the cherry mixture.
Add the lemon juice, almond extract, vanilla extract, salt, and cinnamon if using.
Cook for another 2-3 minutes until thickened, then remove from heat.
