Delicious Ghee Rice Recipe: Flavorful Rice With Whole Spices

Ingredients

– 2 cups basmati rice
– 4 cups water
– 4 tablespoons ghee
– 1 bay leaf
– 1 stick cinnamon
– 4-5 green cardamom pods
– 4-5 cloves
– 1 teaspoon salt
– Chopped coriander leaves (for garnish)
– 1 onion (sliced)

Method

1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for about 30 minutes, then drain.
2. Heat the ghee in a large pot over medium heat, then add the sliced onion. Sauté until the onion turns golden brown.
3. Add the bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom pods, and cloves into the pot. Cook for a minute until fragrant.
4. Mix in the drained rice and sauté for a couple of minutes. Next, add the water and salt.
5. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and let it simmer for 15 minutes or until the water is absorbed. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with chopped coriander leaves before serving.
