Ingredients
– 1 cup boiling water
– 1 cup granulated sugar
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
– 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 1/2 cup brown sugar
– 3 large eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a baking sheet pan with butter.
2. In a large bowl, combine the boiling water, cocoa powder, and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth.
3. Beat in the softened butter, then add the brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix well.
4. Stir together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Gradually add this to the wet mixture.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until cooked through. Check with a toothpick to be sure.
