Ingredients

– 300 ml of milk
– 1 cup of brown sugar
– 100 g of unsalted butter
– 1 cup of self-raising flour
– ½ tsp of baking soda
– ½ tsp of vanilla extract
– 1 tsp of mixed spice (or cinnamon)
– 200 ml of toffee sauce (store-bought or homemade)
– A pinch of salt
– Chopped nuts (optional, for topping)

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking dish with butter.
2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add the brown sugar and stir until combined.
3. Remove from the heat and let it cool slightly. Stir in the milk, vanilla extract, and mixed spice.
4. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the wet mixture, stirring gently until smooth.
5. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Once done, drizzle with toffee sauce and sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
