Ingredients
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 onion, diced
– 2 carrots, diced
– 2 celery stalks, diced
– 500 g ground beef
– 2 tablespoons tomato paste
– 1 cup beef stock
– 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
– 4 cups mashed potatoes
– Salt and pepper to taste
Method
1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the diced onion, carrots, and celery, cooking until soft.
2. Add the ground beef to the pan. Cook until it turns brown, breaking it up as you go along.
3. Stir in the tomato paste, beef stock, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
4. Spoon the meat mixture into a baking dish. Top with an even layer of mashed potatoes, smoothing it out with the back of a spoon.
5. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 25 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
