Ingredients
– 250 ml of milk
– 2 cups of cornmeal
– 1 cup of plain flour
– 4 teaspoons of baking powder
– 100 g of butter, softened
– 1 teaspoon of salt
– 1 tablespoon of sugar
– 1 large egg
– Extra butter for greasing the baking tray
– Optional: honey or jam for serving
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius and grease a baking tray with butter.
2. In a large bowl, mix cornmeal, plain flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar together.
3. Add the softened butter and mix until crumbly. Then, stir in the milk and beat in the egg until well combined.
4. Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the baking tray, leaving space between each.
5. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm with honey or jam if desired.
