Delicious Chia Seed Bagel Recipe: Healthy Breakfast Choice

Ingredients

– 1 cup warm water (about 40°C)
– 1 tablespoon honey
– 2 teaspoons instant yeast
– 3 cups all-purpose flour
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 1/4 cup chia seeds
– 1 tablespoon olive oil
– 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
– Sesame seeds (for topping, optional)
– 2 tablespoons coarse sea salt (for topping, optional)

Method

1. In a large bowl, mix warm water and honey. Sprinkle instant yeast on top and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
2. Add flour, salt, chia seeds, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined and a dough forms.
3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth. Place it in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm spot until doubled in size.
4. Preheat the oven to 220°C. Punch down the dough and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a bagel and place them on a lined baking tray.
5. Brush each bagel with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds or coarse sea salt if using. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
