Caramel Apple Slab Pie Recipe
Ingredients
2 sheets of frozen puff pastry
6 medium apples, peeled and sliced
3/4 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup caramel sauce
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Icing sugar (for dusting)
Method
1. Preheat your oven to 200°C. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
2. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry and lay it on the prepared baking tray.
3. Combine apple slices, brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl. Spread the apple mixture on the pastry in an even layer.
4. Drizzle caramel sauce over the apples. Roll out the second sheet of pastry and place it on top. Seal the edges by pressing them together. Cut a few slits in the top to let steam escape.
5. Brush the top with the beaten egg. Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Allow cooling and dust with icing sugar before serving.
