Delicious Black Rice, Barley, And Flax Seeds Congee Recipe

Ingredients

– 1 cup black rice
– 1/2 cup barley
– 2 tablespoons flaxseeds
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 8 cups water
– 1/2 cup chopped vegetables (carrots, peas, or any of your choice)
– 2 green onions, sliced
– 1 tablespoon soy sauce (optional)
– Fresh herbs (like cilantro or parsley, for garnish)
– Chilli flakes (optional, for heat)

Method

1. Rinse black rice and barley under cold water until the water runs clear.
2. Combine the rinsed grains, flaxseeds, salt, and water in a large pot.
3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. After boiling, reduce to a simmer.
4. Cook for about 30-35 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the rice and barley are tender.
5. After cooking, stir in chopped vegetables, green onions, and soy sauce if desired. Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs and chilli flakes.
