Ingredients
200g semolina
200ml plain yogurt
100ml sugar
150ml milk
50ml vegetable oil
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Almonds, to garnish
300ml water (for syrup)
200g sugar (for syrup)
Method
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a baking dish with some oil.
In a large bowl, mix semolina, yogurt, sugar, milk, vegetable oil, baking powder, and vanilla extract until everything is well combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared dish and spread evenly. Use a knife to create diamond or square shapes on the surface. Top each piece with an almond.
Bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. While that bakes, prepare the syrup by boiling water and sugar together until dissolved.
When the semolina cake is ready, pour the warm syrup over it. Allow to soak for a while before cutting and serving.
