Ingredients
8 slices of bread
4 large eggs
500 ml milk
100 g sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp ground cinnamon
50 g butter
Maple syrup (to serve)
Fresh fruit (optional)
Icing sugar (for dusting)
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a baking dish with butter.
2. Cut the bread into cubes and place them in the baking dish.
3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon until combined.
4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cubes. Press down gently to soak the bread.
5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until the top is golden and the custard is set. Serve with maple syrup, fresh fruit, and a dusting of icing sugar.
