Ingredients
– 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and cut into wedges
– 150 g sugar (approximately ¾ cup)
– 50 g butter (approximately ¼ cup)
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
– 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
– Flour for dusting
– 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Method
1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (about 400°F).
2. In a large, oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sugar and stir until it becomes a golden caramel.
3. Carefully place the apple wedges in the skillet, organizing them neatly. Cook for about 10 minutes until they start to soften. Sprinkle cinnamon and vanilla extract over the apples.
4. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface. Cover the apples with the pastry, tucking the edges into the skillet. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg.
5. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is puffed and golden. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
