Ingredients
- 1 medium bottle gourd, peeled and diced
- 1 cup toor dal (split pigeon peas)
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 green chillies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
Method
- Wash the toor dal under running water until it becomes clear.
- Combine the dal and 2 cups of water in a pot. Cook until the dal is soft.
- In a separate pan, heat the oil over medium heat and add mustard and cumin seeds.
- When the seeds start to pop, stir in the chopped green chillies and grated ginger. Cook for a minute.
- Add the diced bottle gourd, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir well and cover. Cook until the gourd is tender.
