Ingredients
- 1 cup split yellow lentils (dal)
- 1 cup grated fresh coconut
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green chili, finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped
Method
- Rinse the lentils under cold water, then soak them for about 2 hours.
- Drain the lentils and blend them with some water until you achieve a coarse paste.
- Heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and wait until they pop. Then add chopped onion and green chili, sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Mix in the turmeric powder, grated coconut, and drained lentil paste. Stir well and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add salt and chopped coriander. Serve warm.
