Delicious Andhra Style Patoli: Easy Crumbled Dal Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup split yellow lentils (dal)
  • 1 cup grated fresh coconut
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chili, finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh coriander, chopped

Method

  1. Rinse the lentils under cold water, then soak them for about 2 hours.
  2. Drain the lentils and blend them with some water until you achieve a coarse paste.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and wait until they pop. Then add chopped onion and green chili, sauté until the onion is translucent.
  4. Mix in the turmeric powder, grated coconut, and drained lentil paste. Stir well and cook for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add salt and chopped coriander. Serve warm.
