Ingredients

  • 1 whole turkey (about 4 to 5 kg)
  • 100 g butter, softened
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme and rosemary)
  • 1 onion, quartered

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  2. Mix softened butter, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a bowl. Use your hands to rub this mixture all over the turkey.
  3. Stuff the turkey with lemon halves, quartered onion, and fresh herbs.
  4. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and pour chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  5. Roast for about 2 to 2.5 hours, basting occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches 75°C. Let it rest before carving.
