Ingredients
- 2 cups of wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 3 tablespoons of oil for the dough
- 3 to 4 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon of ajwain seeds (carom seeds)
- 1 teaspoon of red chili powder
- Oil for frying
- ½ cup of sugar
- 2 cups of water
Method
- Combine wheat flour and salt in a bowl. Gradually mix in 3 tablespoons of oil and enough water to form a smooth dough. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the mashed potatoes with cumin seeds, ajwain seeds, and red chili powder. Adjust the seasoning to your taste.
- Divide the dough into small balls. Flatten each ball into a circle, add a spoonful of the potato mixture in the center, and seal it by folding over the edges.
- Heat oil in a deep pan. Carefully fry the filled dough circles until they puff up and turn golden brown on both sides.
- Prepare a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together until dissolved. Serve the hot aloo puris with a drizzle of syrup on top.
