Ingredients
150 g dark chocolate
125 g unsalted butter
1 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon salt
3 ripe pears
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Method
Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F). Grease and line a cake tin with baking paper.
Melt the butter and chocolate together in a pot over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat and let it cool.
In a mixing bowl, beat the brown sugar and eggs until creamy. Add the melted chocolate mixture, vanilla extract, baking powder, flour, and salt, stirring gently to combine.
Peel and slice the pears. Toss them in the lemon juice to prevent browning. Fold the pear slices into the cake batter.
Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin. Bake for about 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool before serving.
