Ingredients

  • 150 g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 125 g unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 ripe pears, peeled and sliced
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a cake pan.
  2. Melt the chocolate and butter together in a bowl over simmering water. Stir until smooth.
  3. Add brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Mix well until combined.
  4. In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the chocolate mixture.
  5. Fold in pear slices and walnuts, if using. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes until firm.
