Ingredients
– 2 cups whole wheat flour
– 1 cup jaggery, grated
– ½ cup ghee (clarified butter)
– ½ cup water
– 1 tablespoon cardamom powder
– ¼ cup chopped nuts (cashews, almonds)
– A pinch of salt
– ¼ cup desiccated coconut (optional)
– 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
– 2 tablespoons poppy seeds
Method
1. Begin by roasting the whole wheat flour in a pan over low heat. Stir constantly until it turns golden and develops a nutty aroma.
2. Once roasted, remove the flour from the heat and allow it to cool down slightly.
3. In a separate pan, melt the ghee and combine it with the grated jaggery. Stir until the jaggery completely dissolves.
4. Pour the melted mixture into the flour. Add the cardamom powder, chopped nuts, salt, sesame seeds, and poppy seeds. Mix until everything is well combined.
5. Shape the mixture into small round balls while it’s still warm. If desired, roll them in desiccated coconut for extra flavor.
