Ingredients
– 4 raw bananas (vazhakkai)
– 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
– 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
– 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
– 2 tablespoons chili powder
– 1 tablespoon salt
– 1 tablespoon oil
– 5 curry leaves
– 1 small onion, chopped
– 2 tablespoons grated coconut (optional)
Method
1. Begin by peeling the raw bananas and cutting them into thin slices. Place these pieces aside.
2. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and allow them to splutter.
3. Next, toss in the cumin seeds and curry leaves. Sauté for a minute before adding the chopped onion. Cook until the onion turns golden brown.
4. In a bowl, combine the turmeric powder, chili powder, and salt. Add this spice mix to the pan. Stir well, then add the sliced bananas.
5. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the bananas are tender. If desired, sprinkle grated coconut on top before serving.
